This genre-bending documentary follows fifth-generation Montanan performance artist Marla Goodman and her theremin-playing alter egos, Polly and Dolly Vinyl — fictional fraternal twin sisters with backstories drawn from Marla’s own life.

Part artist portrait, part fictional narrative, and part celebration of unexpected art in unexpected places, Polly and Dolly (and Marla) will depict the humor and self-discovery of an artist at work.

The production follows Polly and Dolly to Butte, Helena, Boulder, White Sulphur Springs, Livingston, and surprise stops in between. The film will be completed by early 2027.
